Former U.S. President Donald Trump asserts that the United States must aim for the top spot in the cryptocurrency industry, emphasizing that ”there is no second place.” In a May 25 post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his openness to the growing crypto sector, saying, ”I am very positive and open-minded to cryptocurrency companies and all things related to this new and burgeoning industry.”

He also criticized current President Joe Biden, stating, ”Crooked Joe Biden, the worst president in the history of our country, wants it to die a slow and painful death. That will never happen with me!” Trump’s comments came ahead of his speech at the Libertarian Party’s National Convention in Washington.

Trump’s supportive stance on crypto has raised industry expectations for his potential victory in the 2024 presidential race. According to the crypto prediction platform Polymarket, Trump has a 56% chance of winning, compared to Biden’s 38%.

Recently, Trump announced that his presidential campaign would accept cryptocurrency donations. On May 21, the Trump 2024 campaign launched a fundraising page for crypto donations using Coinbase Commerce, accepting Bitcoin, Ether, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, XRP, USD Coin, SOL, and 0x.

Additionally, Trump has reportedly met with crypto enthusiasts. Cointelegraph noted that buyers of Trump’s “Mugshot” nonfungible tokens (NFTs) had the opportunity to dine with him on May 8 at his Mar-a-Lago residence. This dinner was part of the agreement for purchasing the digital trading cards, which feature his mugshot from his surrender at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
