Stripe makes OUSD its default stablecoin
Stripe has launched support for Open USD (OUSD) across its products and made it the platform’s default stablecoin. OUSD is a new stablecoin from Open Standard, designed to make global payments faster and cheaper.
Businesses can now use OUSD through Stripe to receive, hold, send, and spend money, make global payouts, issue cards, accept payments, and convert between traditional currencies and OUSD.
OUSD is available on Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo. Stripe will continue to support other stablecoins, so businesses are not required to switch their existing balances to OUSD.
Open Standard is backed by major companies including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa, along with more than 200 network partners.
The launch is another major step toward bringing stablecoins into everyday global payments and financial services.
