Sui Network has partnered with Google as an official launch partner for the tech giant’s new Agentic Payments Protocol (AP2) — a system designed to let artificial intelligence (AI) agents carry out financial transactions on behalf of users.

AP2, also known as the Intermediary Payment Protocol, aims to set a new standard for how AI systems can securely manage and execute payments. Instead of simply passing along user instructions, these AI agents would be able to handle transactions directly, manage account balances, and settle payments in real time.

Sui, developed by Mysten Labs, is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built for fast, programmable transactions and privacy-focused identity tools. Its involvement in AP2 signals a growing effort to merge blockchain technology with artificial intelligence, opening the door to a new era of automated digital commerce.

Following the announcement, SUI’s token saw a brief price jump before pulling back — a sign, analysts say, of investor caution. The long-term impact of AP2 will likely depend on how widely it’s adopted in real-world use cases.

Still, being part of a Google-led initiative gives Sui added credibility and visibility in the crowded Layer 1 blockchain space.
