Deutsche Bank plans to launch a regulated digital asset custody service for institutional and corporate clients in Europe this year, subject to regulatory approval.

The service will allow clients to securely store and transfer digital assets without having to build their own custody infrastructure. Deutsche Bank will manage the wallets and private keys on clients’ behalf.

At launch, the bank plans to support Bitcoin, Ether, USDC, EURC and EURAU, with additional digital assets and tokenized financial instruments potentially added over time.

The initial service will target corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokers and sovereign institutions. Client onboarding will be subject to Deutsche Bank’s due-diligence requirements and risk controls.

The bank said the custody system will use multiple security measures, including hardware-based key protection, multi-person approvals and separate warm and cold storage.

The service remains subject to the applicable regulatory process, and its timing, availability and supported assets may change.
