The Buenos Aires Ministry of Education is set to introduce blockchain technology and Ethereum into the high school curriculum, marking a significant step towards incorporating cutting-edge technology in education. This initiative, led by the ETH Kipu Foundation, aims to equip students with knowledge of blockchain technology and hands-on experience in building decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum platform.
Launching on August 27, the program will offer students both classroom education and internships with blockchain projects, providing practical experience in the industry. The initiative will initially involve 500 students aged 18 and above, who will learn to program using Solidity, the language used for Ethereum smart contracts. This skill set is expected to prepare students for future careers in the growing digital economy.
ETH Kipu Foundation co-founder Romina Sejas hailed the program as a landmark achievement, emphasizing the potential of the Ethereum network to foster human collaboration. Additionally, 30 teachers will receive hybrid training in blockchain technology to ensure they are well-prepared to teach these subjects.
This educational program underscores Argentina’s growing role as a crypto hub in Latin America. The country ranks fourth globally in cryptocurrency ownership and has seen a surge in community-led initiatives like those from the ETH Kipu Foundation. The recent election of a pro-crypto president has further solidified Argentina’s position, with new policies supporting the crypto industry and fostering an environment conducive to innovation.
Beyond this initiative, other educational efforts in Argentina, such as NGO Bitcoin Argentina’s partnership with crypto exchange BingX, are also promoting Web3 education, covering a broad range of crypto topics including Bitcoin and stablecoins. These efforts reflect Argentina’s commitment to embracing digital assets and blockchain technology as part of its economic future.
