Mastercard Completes $1.8B BVNK Acquisition in Stablecoin Push

Mastercard has completed its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK in a deal valued at up to $1.8 billion.

Mastercard said Monday that combining its global payments network with BVNK’s blockchain infrastructure will help banks, fintechs and businesses expand their use of stablecoins and tokenized assets.

The companies plan to support stablecoin payments, cross-border transfers, payouts, settlement and treasury services. Mastercard said the deal will help connect digital currencies with traditional fiat currencies.

BVNK confirmed that it is now officially part of Mastercard. The company said customers can continue using the same products, teams and integrations without taking any action.

The deal could also help banks offer stablecoin payment services and connect customer accounts to crypto wallets. Payment providers could use the infrastructure to offer merchants faster, 24/7 settlement.

BVNK said Mastercard’s global reach will also expand its card and international money transfer services.

Mastercard agreed to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion in March, including $300 million in potential additional payments. The acquisition comes after a proposed $2 billion deal between Coinbase and BVNK fell apart in November 2025.
