Swiss bank BancaStato launches regulated crypto trading with Sygnum

Swiss cantonal bank BancaStato has launched regulated cryptocurrency trading through a partnership with digital asset bank Sygnum, allowing customers to buy, sell and hold digital assets directly from the bank’s online and mobile banking apps.

The new service supports Bitcoin, Ether, Solana and Litecoin, with Sygnum providing the trading and custody infrastructure through its integration with banking software provider Avaloq.

BancaStato becomes the latest financial institution to join Sygnum’s banking network, which now supports more than 25 banks offering regulated digital asset services.

The launch follows Sygnum Europe receiving a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (CASP) license in June, allowing it to provide regulated crypto services across the European Union. BancaStato said it does not plan to seek a MiCA license, as the service is available only to customers residing in Switzerland.
