Solana Mobile Begins Shipping Seeker Phone to Over 50 Countries, Eyes $67.5M in Sales

Solana Mobile has started shipping its second-generation crypto-focused smartphone, the Seeker, to customers in more than 50 countries. The company, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, says the device has already received over 150,000 pre-orders, significantly outpacing demand for its first phone, the Saga.

With a price tag of $450 to $500, Solana Mobile stands to earn at least $67.5 million in gross revenue from Seeker sales.

The Seeker features a built-in crypto wallet, access to a decentralized app (dApp) store, and improved hardware across the board. Solana Mobile general manager Emmett Hollyer told Cointelegraph that what truly differentiates Seeker is its on-chain capabilities, including the Seed Vault, a hardware-based security feature designed to protect private keys and seed phrases while enabling app interactions.

Developers and crypto users are the phone’s primary audience. For developers, Seeker offers a new app ecosystem that avoids the high fees and restrictions of traditional app stores. For users, the phone is built to enhance experiences like trading NFTs, using DeFi apps, or playing Web3 games on mobile.

Solana Mobile is also introducing a new decentralized infrastructure called TEEPIN (Trusted Execution Environment Platform Infrastructure Network), which aims to move device security, access, and app distribution onto the blockchain. TEEPIN allows the Seeker to verify it’s running secure, legitimate software using cryptographic proofs.

The Seeker follows the underwhelming launch of the Saga phone, which sold around 20,000 units. That device only gained traction after memecoins stored on the phones made them profitable for buyers.

With Seeker, Solana Mobile is doubling down on the Web3 vision—aiming to offer a truly decentralized mobile experience that isn’t limited by the policies of centralized app stores like Apple’s or Google’s.
